(Formerly The Milspouse Mastermind Show). The go to podcast for military spouses who want to live with more meaning and less overwhelm! Have you ever felt stuck, lonely, overwhelmed, frustrated or unfulfilled as a military spouse? Are you tired of putting your own dreams, goals and plans on hold; waiting for some future season to build a life you love? Do you sometimes feel like you’ve lost sight of who you are and what you have to offer? More Than a Milspouse is here to empower you to GET UNSTUCK, CRAFT A LIFE WITH PURPOSE, and show you that YOU DON’T HAVE TO WAIT FOR TOMORROW TO CHASE YOUR DREAMS. In this podcast, we dig into all things military spouse life, from the mind and growth work that has to happen in order for you to completely get unstuck and feel fulfilled every single day – YES, IT’S POSSIBLE – to practically navigating the unpredictability of military life. Through honest conversations and expert interviews, we’ll help you set goals, combat stress and anxiety, incorporate self-care as a military spouse, boost your mental and emotional health, and prioritize what matters most, so that you can pursue your life, career and business dreams (with more joy and less overwhelm as a military family). 👋 Hi, I’m Christine, a seasoned military spouse, marketing strategist, mom of three, and coffee connoisseur. I am all-too-familiar with the challenges that come with frequent moves, deployments, TDYs and trying to balance military life with your own dreams and passions. After four moves and three babies in four years, I became an accidental stay at home mom. I began a journey to find myself again and figure out how to love the life I was actually living, rather than the one I had imagined for myself. If there’s one thing I want you to know, it’s this: You were made for more! More than the managing of schedules, keeping up with kiddos and holding down the home front. YOU have something uniquely valuable to offer, and when you pursue the things that light your heart on fire, you trade frustration for FULFILLMENT and isolation for IDENTITY, CONNECTION, and a life of IMPACT. I’m here to help you thrive as a military spouse, get clarity on what fuels and fills you, and give you practical tools and strategies to craft a life of MEANING and PURPOSE today. Whether you are an Army spouse, an Air Force spouse, a Marine spouse, a Navy spouse, Coast Guard spouse, or a Space Force spouse, this is the podcast for you! Friend, it’s time to reclaim your life and dreams and discover who you are meant to be because together we can change the world! LET’S DO IT! As a military spouse, it can sometimes feel like you're a supporting character in someone else's story. Today's episode is all about flipping that script on its head.
I sit down with ghostwriter Steven Leaply, a Navy veteran, to talk about why YOUR story as a military spouse matters, three reasons why you should share your story, and how to get started. If you're ready to trade the mundane of everyday life for a life of meaning (without ever changing your circumstances)...then keep listening!

190. Brené Brown's Tips for Finding True Belonging as a Military Spouse
Monday Feb 26, 2024
Monday Feb 26, 2024
Do you ever struggle with loneliness? Do you struggle to find “your people” with each move? Do you sometimes feel like no one knows the “real you”?
Author and researcher Brené Brown suggests that at the heart of loneliness is a feeling of disconnection and the absence of meaningful social interaction.
But how do we make genuine connections that allow us to be our true selves, rather than settling for fitting in?
In today’s episode, I unpack Brené Brown’s book, Braving the Wilderness: The Quest for True Belonging and the Courage to Stand Alone, and specifically what this means for us as military spouses.
We discuss:
- What true belonging is
- How to cultivate true belonging as a military spouse
- What true belonging actually looks like in real life
- What happens when we put these tips into practice
If you are ready to turn isolation into a life of impact, then this episode is for you!

A common theme military spouses struggle with is finding their own identity and purpose in lifestyle that asks them to “hold down the homefront” and “let your spouse focus on the mission.” But you are more than a milspouse.
In this episode, I sit down with Jenna Griffith to discuss what holds military spouses back and what steps we can take to begin to find purpose. We talk about:
- The first thing Jenna did in her search for purpose (and what she recommends you do)
- What holds military spouses (and veteran spouses) back the most
- The importance of healing yourself and finding purpose
- Expectations vs. agreements (and why this distinction matters)
- What to do about your fears and doubts
- How the pursuit of purpose can address feelings of isolation and lead you to community
I can’t wait to share this conversation with you!

Do you ever find yourself second-guessing yourself, your skills, and what you bring to the table? You want to show up confidently, and yet you struggle with imposter syndrome. You sometimes question what you have to offer or if you’re even qualified to be in the room.
Often we lack self-confidence. But is the solution really improving our self-esteem? In this episode we unpack what self-esteem is, why it might not be the answer you’re looking for, and what you can do instead that will help you stop mentally doubting yourself, improve your self-confidence, and ultimately help you reach your goals and dreams.

There are a lot of resources out there to help you as a military spouse navigate a deployment, learn how to PCS, set up a budget, understand military acronyms, go back to school, and even build your resume. But while there are more work-from-home opportunities than there has ever been before, and more employers willing to hire military spouses (depending on where you live), what hasn’t changed over time is the percentage of military spouses that are either unemployed or underemployed.
Zūlbiye Jorgensen is on a mission to change that statistic. A former active-duty military spouse, guard spouse, and now reserve spouse, she has become an advocate for the military spouse community, specifically focused on how military spouses can have a fulfilling career.
In this conversation, we discuss:
- What military spouses specifically bring to the table
- Ways that military spouses have used their expertise and creative problem-solving skills to turn opportunity into income
- The number one skill you need to develop to have a fulfilling career as a military spouse
- Practical ways to put this skill into action
If you are ready to have a fulfilling career as a military spouse, give this episode a listen!

Today’s conversation is with Lindsay Williams, the language obsessed human behind Lindsay Does Languages, a business dedicated to inspiring independent language learners to succeed when doing it solo. Lindsay has studied over 14 different languages and developed some degree of competence in all of them. 🤯
What started as a conversation about how to quickly learn a new language as a military spouse who is moving overseas, or traveling abroad, quickly went much deeper. Because what Lindsay does is not just teach languages; she teaches you how to learn a new language (and how to do it quickly).
In this episode we discuss:
- How the ability to learn a language is something we can all benefit from
- The three things you need to learn a new language
- The two phases of language learning
- How the skill of learning a language applies to other areas of our life
- How language learning helps us better understand others and ourselves
Whether you’re preparing for an OCONUS PCS to a foreign country, you’re saving up to take that bucket list trip to somewhere in Europe, or you just want to know yourself a little bit better, you’re going to get a lot out of this conversation.

184. Should You Set Goals If You Don’t Think You’ll Achieve Them?
Monday Jan 15, 2024
Monday Jan 15, 2024
As a military spouse, it can be tempting to play small…to set small goals…or to not set goals at all. Perhaps you are PCSing this year, or you know your spouse will be gone a lot, or your kids are at an age where it feels impossible to pursue any of your own passions.
Of course, there will be challenges and obstacles that get in the way of you pursuing your goals. In fact, you might not achieve your goals. And you might feel discouraged or defeated. So does that mean you shouldn’t set goals?
In this episode we’re talking about whether it makes sense to set goals for your season of life, what happens when you don’t set goals, and what I think you should do instead.
Can’t wait to unpack this with you!

Christine

The most common goals and resolutions for a new year often revolve around health and fitness. But another way to help you grow in 2024 is by setting a reading goal.
For some this is a goal to read a book. For others, the goal involves choosing one book to read each month. And for some, the goal is even higher.
This bonus episode is designed to encourage you to set a reading goal for your year (be it one book or 100 books). And to give you a few book recommendations to get you started.
