(Formerly The Milspouse Mastermind Show). The go to podcast for military spouses who want to live with more meaning and less overwhelm! Have you ever felt stuck, lonely, overwhelmed, frustrated or unfulfilled as a military spouse? Are you tired of putting your own dreams, goals and plans on hold; waiting for some future season to build a life you love? Do you sometimes feel like you’ve lost sight of who you are and what you have to offer? More Than a Milspouse is here to empower you to GET UNSTUCK, CRAFT A LIFE WITH PURPOSE, and show you that YOU DON’T HAVE TO WAIT FOR TOMORROW TO CHASE YOUR DREAMS. In this podcast, we dig into all things military spouse life, from the mind and growth work that has to happen in order for you to completely get unstuck and feel fulfilled every single day – YES, IT’S POSSIBLE – to practically navigating the unpredictability of military life. Through honest conversations and expert interviews, we’ll help you set goals, combat stress and anxiety, incorporate self-care as a military spouse, boost your mental and emotional health, and prioritize what matters most, so that you can pursue your life, career and business dreams (with more joy and less overwhelm as a military family). 👋 Hi, I’m Christine, a seasoned military spouse, marketing strategist, mom of three, and coffee connoisseur. I am all-too-familiar with the challenges that come with frequent moves, deployments, TDYs and trying to balance military life with your own dreams and passions. After four moves and three babies in four years, I became an accidental stay at home mom. I began a journey to find myself again and figure out how to love the life I was actually living, rather than the one I had imagined for myself. If there’s one thing I want you to know, it’s this: You were made for more! More than the managing of schedules, keeping up with kiddos and holding down the home front. YOU have something uniquely valuable to offer, and when you pursue the things that light your heart on fire, you trade frustration for FULFILLMENT and isolation for IDENTITY, CONNECTION, and a life of IMPACT. I’m here to help you thrive as a military spouse, get clarity on what fuels and fills you, and give you practical tools and strategies to craft a life of MEANING and PURPOSE today. Whether you are an Army spouse, an Air Force spouse, a Marine spouse, a Navy spouse, Coast Guard spouse, or a Space Force spouse, this is the podcast for you! Friend, it’s time to reclaim your life and dreams and discover who you are meant to be because together we can change the world! LET’S DO IT! Is it possible to live full of joy as a military spouse? If so, how do we do it? And does it look the same for each person?
Those are the questions we unpack in this week’s episode. I chat with The Joy Weaver, Aj Smit. As a fellow military spouse, she absolutely understands this lifestyle. In this conversation, we discuss what it means to live an embodied life, to tap into joy, and the importance of regulating your nervous system. Plus, you’ll get to listen in as she coaches me through her process to help me tap into embodied joy in my life. If you are struggling to walk in joy in your current season of life, don’t miss this episode.

196. How to Be Happier Regardless of Where You Live
Monday Apr 08, 2024
Monday Apr 08, 2024
Over the last few weeks, we’ve been chatting about moving. Partly this is because I’m gearing up for my own PCS in a couple of months, and partly it’s because a lot of families move during the summer, whether to the other side of the world, or just across town.
Today, we’re rounding out this series by talking about what we can do to be happier, regardless of where we live. This conversation was inspired by a statistic I read that blew my mind. I can’t wait to share what the statistic was, and what it means for you as a military spouse.

Christine

195. Dear Christine: 🚚"I Can't Deal with The Change of Moving"
Monday Apr 01, 2024
Monday Apr 01, 2024
We’re continuing our series all about moving with the military, and talking about our mindset. Specifically, we’re looking at the statement, “I can’t deal with the change of moving.”
I get it. I’m preparing for our third overseas move (OCONUS PCS) in four years. It’s not always fun. But let’s talk about what we can do when we’re not excited about what’s ahead.

Christine

Sometimes military life is a lot. It can be easy to become resentful of this lifestyle. Today’s guest knows that feeling all too well. Beth Runkle’s journey brought her from bitter and reluctant military spouse to fully embracing the lifestyle and making the most of it. In this conversation, we talk about dealing with loneliness, feelings of frustration over career challenges, infertility, the pain of a failed adoption, and the struggle of an unhealthy marriage.
More importantly, we discuss how her life was transformed, and how she moved from a place of resentment and surviving to truly thriving. We unpack how she traded her loneliness for authentic friendships, how her marriage was dramatically transformed, and how she found purpose and meaning along the way. I hope this episode is an encouragement to you on your journey!

If you’ve never done a military move before, it can feel overwhelming. And if you’ve PCSed a dozen times, it can still feel overwhelming.
Thankfully there is a lot of helpful information out there about how to prepare for your move, how to budget for a PCS (permanent change of station), how to put together a PCS binder, and what checklists you need to follow. There are even resources to help you whether to use the provided moving company or do it yourself. But there’s one crucial tip that not enough people are talking about. And that’s what we’re diving into today.

As a military spouse, it can sometimes feel like you're a supporting character in someone else's story. Today's episode is all about flipping that script on its head.
I sit down with ghostwriter Steven Leaply, a Navy veteran, to talk about why YOUR story as a military spouse matters, three reasons why you should share your story, and how to get started. If you're ready to trade the mundane of everyday life for a life of meaning (without ever changing your circumstances)...then keep listening!

190. Brené Brown's Tips for Finding True Belonging as a Military Spouse
Monday Feb 26, 2024
Monday Feb 26, 2024
Do you ever struggle with loneliness? Do you struggle to find “your people” with each move? Do you sometimes feel like no one knows the “real you”?
Author and researcher Brené Brown suggests that at the heart of loneliness is a feeling of disconnection and the absence of meaningful social interaction.
But how do we make genuine connections that allow us to be our true selves, rather than settling for fitting in?
In today’s episode, I unpack Brené Brown’s book, Braving the Wilderness: The Quest for True Belonging and the Courage to Stand Alone, and specifically what this means for us as military spouses.
We discuss:
- What true belonging is
- How to cultivate true belonging as a military spouse
- What true belonging actually looks like in real life
- What happens when we put these tips into practice
If you are ready to turn isolation into a life of impact, then this episode is for you!

Christine

A common theme military spouses struggle with is finding their own identity and purpose in lifestyle that asks them to “hold down the homefront” and “let your spouse focus on the mission.” But you are more than a milspouse.
In this episode, I sit down with Jenna Griffith to discuss what holds military spouses back and what steps we can take to begin to find purpose. We talk about:
- The first thing Jenna did in her search for purpose (and what she recommends you do)
- What holds military spouses (and veteran spouses) back the most
- The importance of healing yourself and finding purpose
- Expectations vs. agreements (and why this distinction matters)
- What to do about your fears and doubts
- How the pursuit of purpose can address feelings of isolation and lead you to community
I can’t wait to share this conversation with you!

Do you ever find yourself second-guessing yourself, your skills, and what you bring to the table? You want to show up confidently, and yet you struggle with imposter syndrome. You sometimes question what you have to offer or if you’re even qualified to be in the room.
Often we lack self-confidence. But is the solution really improving our self-esteem? In this episode we unpack what self-esteem is, why it might not be the answer you’re looking for, and what you can do instead that will help you stop mentally doubting yourself, improve your self-confidence, and ultimately help you reach your goals and dreams.
