Hey friend,
I’ve seen it happen many times. You know you’ll only be stationed somewhere for a short amount of time. So you rationalize that you don’t need to take the time to make your space feel like home.
But then it really doesn’t feel like your space at all. It feels like you’re living in someone else’s home. Or worse, like you're not actually at home at all. You grow frustrated with the space. And eventually it begins to affect how you feel not only about the house that you live in, but also the location you’re at, and the people you live with. You wind up restless, unsettled and longing for something different.
What if instead you took the time to hang the pictures on the wall? Just doing a few simple things to make your space feel like home can make a world of difference for how you feel about an entire assignment…and it can ultimately affect your mood, your satisfaction and how you relate to others.
This week we’re beginning a two-part series on how to create a sense of home. Part one is all about how to visually make a space look and feel like home. What practical things you can do to create a space that is visually appealing (without spending a bunch of time and money)…a space that makes you feel at home.

How could your life look different, even if none of your circumstances changed?
Today’s conversation is with Jessie Ellertson, a National Guard spouse, mom of six, and life coach for military wives. Jessie shares her story of how a deployment, a podcast, and a dinner party led her to pursuing her purpose and doing the thing that lights her up – helping military wives navigate seasons of separation from their spouse due to deployments or trainings.
She talks about the power of shifting your thinking and what is possible when you reframe your thoughts. She also provides some really practical tips for how we can strengthen our marriages and maintain connect with our spouses when they are deployed or away from home.

Hi Friend,
Four years ago I felt stuck in a life I didn’t choose. I felt pulled in all directions. I didn’t love how I was showing up for my husband or my kids. I just desperately wanted to feel in control of my life and the direction it was headed.
Four years ago I started a simple daily habit that has transformed my life. No, it didn’t solve all my problems. But it did transform my outlook and the way I look at life. It impacted my relationships. It helped my mindset and resiliency. And it led me to do what I do today.

How many times have you asked about work from home jobs as a military spouse, only to hear, “Girl, join my team!"?
Most of us as military spouses have friends who are a part of some network marketing, direct sales or MLM company, and many of us have joined or at least entertained the idea of joining a company because we’d love to bring in some extra income without sacrificing flexibility and time freedom.
But can network marketing actually be a reliable source of income? Or will you end up just wasting a lot of money, time and effort trying to make it work for you?
This week I chat with Michelle Castro of the Growth Against The Grain podcast about how to know if a network marketing opportunity is a waste of time or something you should seriously consider as a military spouse.

This summer has been a very difficult PCS season for so many military families. I’ve seen many military spouses stressed out over stuff and belongings and housing issues (and for good reason).
For new military spouses or those who have not moved in a long time, it’s easy to get caught up in trying to plan and execute the perfect PCS. Or at least minimize the number of things that will go wrong.
There is nothing wrong with properly planning for a PCS. But sometimes we get so focused taking care of our stuff, that we forget to take care of the most important thing – ourselves.
PCSing is a high stress event. And I don’t think there are enough people talking about how we can better prepare ourselves mentally and emotionally for the process. Stuff is replaceable. You, my friend, are not!
I’m popping in with a bonus episode this week and sharing my story of PCS health issues, in hopes that it reminds you to make sure you are taking care of yourself and your family this PCS Season.
